re you feeling a little shaken by all the bad news swirling around us these days? I know I am. Here in Washington, DC, it seems like every time I glance at my phone or catch a headline, there's another story of federal workers being laid off without cause. All of this gloom and doom is beginning to affect my sunny disposition.
Then I thought of Peter. Like me, Peter found himself in the midst of a raging storm of chaos and doubts. And like me, Peter began to sink into despair as soon as he took his focus off of Jesus and began to focus on the turmoil around him. The truth is, there’s nothing to gain by getting lost in the destructive power of a storm. The victory comes when we lock our eyes on God and His doctrines. When our focus remains fixed on God’s promises, we cannot sink. God will always come to the rescue. It is a promise, darling. Matthew 14: 29-31: So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

Feeling scared, Sugar? That shaky feeling is an illusion. It is not from God! He did not give you a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE, and SELF-CONTROL! (2 Timothy 1:7)
When you feel afraid, take a deep breath and ask yourself: "Am I thinking like an ordinary person? Am I forgetting who I am?" Because, Sugar, you are not like everybody else! You are a Spirit-filled daughter of the King. ✨ You have POWER. (Over fear, over doubt, over every obstacle.) 💖 You have LOVE. (God’s love, your weapon against the lies of the enemy.) 🛠️ You have SELF-CONTROL. (Your feelings don’t rule you; you rule them!) Fear says, You’re not enough. God says, You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14) Fear says, You can’t handle this. God says, My strength is enough for you. (2 Corinthians 12:9) When fear tries to whisper doubts in your ear, remember—it has no real power. You’re stronger than your fears because God’s Spirit lives in you. It’s a promise, darling. 💖 Hey Sugar, Decisions, decisions! Should you say yes? Wait? Move forward? Sometimes, choices feel like trying to pick the right lip gloss—shiny but unpredictable. Been there! I once had to decide: take a gap year or go straight to law school. My heart whispered, Wait. My pride shouted, Girl, go NOW! So I rushed in, only to realize, oops-I wasn’t ready. I made mistakes, fumbled socially, and struggled when I did not have to.
Before making your next big move, run it through this wisdom checklist: Does it align with God’s Word? (No loopholes, sis.) ✅ What are the obvious consequences? (If it’s messy now, it won’t get cleaner later.) ✅ Will your choice negatively impact someone watching your faith walk? ✅ Can you honestly ask God to bless this decision? ✅ Do you have peace about it? Can you sleep? If not, ask God Why? ✅ Is this the right time? (Even a good thing at the wrong time is wrong.) ✅ Does it fit who you are as a child of God? ✅ Will your decision honor God? ✅ Can you expect God’s reward? (Obedience always brings blessings!) 📖 "Trust in the Lord… submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 Ask God daily for help until you know for sure. The right decision will come with peace, not pressure. It’s a promise, darling! 💫 Yoo hoo, darling! Do you want to be calm and sane today? Then strive to cultivate a mind of God. This is the only way to have lasting peace in the midst of chaos. You cannot read enough, or drink enough, or smoke enough to develop this type of peace that passes all understanding. This euphoria only comes from spending time with God, sitting quietly and letting HIS Spirit fill you.
When you focus on Him, He begins to reorder your mind, hush your worries, and remind you of who He is. When you know who He is, you will no longer fear what’s happening around you. The world will always try to sell you peace in the form of distractions, addictions, and quick fixes. But true peace? That’s a gift from God. And it’s already yours if you’re willing to receive it. So today, take a deep breath, sit still, and let His Spirit fill you. You don’t have to figure it all out. You just have to trust the One who already has. It’s a promise, darling. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” |
