re you feeling a little shaken by all the bad news swirling around us these days? I know I am. Here in Washington, DC, it seems like every time I glance at my phone or catch a headline, there's another story of federal workers being laid off without cause. All of this gloom and doom is beginning to affect my sunny disposition.
Then I thought of Peter. Like me, Peter found himself in the midst of a raging storm of chaos and doubts. And like me, Peter began to sink into despair as soon as he took his focus off of Jesus and began to focus on the turmoil around him. The truth is, there’s nothing to gain by getting lost in the destructive power of a storm. The victory comes when we lock our eyes on God and His doctrines. When our focus remains fixed on God’s promises, we cannot sink. God will always come to the rescue. It is a promise, darling. Matthew 14: 29-31: So Peter went over the side of the boat and walked on the water toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the strong wind and the waves, he was terrified and began to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he shouted. 31 Jesus immediately reached out and grabbed him. “You have so little faith,” Jesus said. “Why did you doubt me?”

Feeling scared, Sugar? That shaky feeling is an illusion. It is not from God! He did not give you a spirit of fear, but of POWER, LOVE, and SELF-CONTROL! (2 Timothy 1:7)
When you feel afraid, take a deep breath and ask yourself: "Am I thinking like an ordinary person? Am I forgetting who I am?" Because, Sugar, you are not like everybody else! You are a Spirit-filled daughter of the King. ✨ You have POWER. (Over fear, over doubt, over every obstacle.) 💖 You have LOVE. (God’s love, your weapon against the lies of the enemy.) 🛠️ You have SELF-CONTROL. (Your feelings don’t rule you; you rule them!) Fear says, You’re not enough. God says, You are fearfully and wonderfully made. (Psalm 139:14) Fear says, You can’t handle this. God says, My strength is enough for you. (2 Corinthians 12:9) When fear tries to whisper doubts in your ear, remember—it has no real power. You’re stronger than your fears because God’s Spirit lives in you. It’s a promise, darling. 💖 Hey Sugar, Decisions, decisions! Should you say yes? Wait? Move forward? Sometimes, choices feel like trying to pick the right lip gloss—shiny but unpredictable. Been there! I once had to decide: take a gap year or go straight to law school. My heart whispered, Wait. My pride shouted, Girl, go NOW! So I rushed in, only to realize, oops-I wasn’t ready. I made mistakes, fumbled socially, and struggled when I did not have to.
Before making your next big move, run it through this wisdom checklist: Does it align with God’s Word? (No loopholes, sis.) ✅ What are the obvious consequences? (If it’s messy now, it won’t get cleaner later.) ✅ Will your choice negatively impact someone watching your faith walk? ✅ Can you honestly ask God to bless this decision? ✅ Do you have peace about it? Can you sleep? If not, ask God Why? ✅ Is this the right time? (Even a good thing at the wrong time is wrong.) ✅ Does it fit who you are as a child of God? ✅ Will your decision honor God? ✅ Can you expect God’s reward? (Obedience always brings blessings!) 📖 "Trust in the Lord… submit to Him, and He will make your paths straight." Proverbs 3:5-6 Ask God daily for help until you know for sure. The right decision will come with peace, not pressure. It’s a promise, darling! 💫 Yoo hoo, darling! Do you want to be calm and sane today? Then strive to cultivate a mind of God. This is the only way to have lasting peace in the midst of chaos. You cannot read enough, or drink enough, or smoke enough to develop this type of peace that passes all understanding. This euphoria only comes from spending time with God, sitting quietly and letting HIS Spirit fill you.
When you focus on Him, He begins to reorder your mind, hush your worries, and remind you of who He is. When you know who He is, you will no longer fear what’s happening around you. The world will always try to sell you peace in the form of distractions, addictions, and quick fixes. But true peace? That’s a gift from God. And it’s already yours if you’re willing to receive it. So today, take a deep breath, sit still, and let His Spirit fill you. You don’t have to figure it all out. You just have to trust the One who already has. It’s a promise, darling. Psalm 46:10 says, “Be still and know that I am God.” YOO HOO DARLING, The most difficult thing to do is to order and manage your own life. Living well requires discipline to stop the drift to mediocrity. We know in our hearts that we should exert control over ourselves. What stops us from doing so?
It is our humanness that trips us up. How can you push beyond the limits of your personality, family obligations, financial struggles, and physical frailty? You can’t.... without God. When we activate the Holy Spirit within us, we are reborn. Thus empowered, we can surpass our physical limits and personality quirks. We can discern right from wrong. We can love the unlovable. We can communicate directly with God. What are you willing to do to access this kind of power? Will you remain sober enough to pray through your difficulties? Will you schedule time to study God’s word? Will you reflect before taking matters into your own hands? Will you move with precision when directed by God? Let’s make every effort to seek God in 2025. He will take care of the rest. It is a promise, darling. YOO HOO DARLING! Not feeling especially joyful? Don't worry. Nothing is wrong if you do not feel joyful today. 🔐 Joy is not the only sign of discipleship.
What is joy? Joy is the reward of patiently seeing God in the dull days (of trusting when you cannot see). Joy is your heart's response to God's smile of recognition of your faithfulness. (excerpted from God Calling) Courage plus unselfish thoughts for others are also a sign that you are aligned with God. Keep trying. Keep trusting. Keep praying. Keep moving forward. Joy will come. It is a promise, darling. Psalm 100 1 Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands. 2 Serve the Lord with gladness: come before his presence with singing. 3 Know ye that the Lord he is God: it is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. 4 Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name. 5 For the Lord is good; his mercy is everlasting; and his truth endureth to all generations. . As believers, we have everything we need to accomplish any task. Seriously. Remember the miracle about the five loaves and two fish found in Matthew 13: 17-21?
17 “We have here only five loaves of bread and two fish,” they answered.18 “Bring them here to me,” Jesus said. 19 And he directed the people to sit down on the grass. Taking the five loaves and the two fish and looking up to heaven, he gave thanks and broke the loaves. Then he gave them to the disciples, and the disciples gave them to the people. 20 They all ate and were satisfied, and the disciples picked up twelve basketfuls of broken pieces that were left over. 21 The number of those who ate was about five thousand men, besides women and children. “ The twelve basketfuls of leftovers represent the adequacy and immensity of Christ’s provision. Take another look at your table. You have everything you need and more. It is a promise, darling! Life can be messy, chaotic, and ugly. Do not be disheartened during these times.
Instead, look away from the imperfections in your surroundings and in yourself. And dwell on God and God’s infinite possibilities. The looking will transform you so that you can push beyond your human frailty to do what seems impossible. It s a promise, darling. Humans are social creatures who tend to gravitate towards others for protection, comfort, and instruction. But all relationships are not edifying. If I’m honest, some of my biggest missed opportunities have resulted from a reliance on bad advice from well-meaning friends.
Real wisdom is knowing the right path and having the courage not to stray. Real understanding and discernment requires supernatural God power. After years of wrestling with big decisions, I no longer seek the counsel of friends and family first. These days, I ask God. How? I sit in my walk-in closet, light a fragrant candle, and present the question to God. Sometimes, it takes a few days before I get an answer. Sometimes, it takes a few months. But as long as I do my best to live obediently, God will answer. Proverbs 2:6 For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding. It s a promise, darling. In the spirit world, wealth is defined simply as the sufficiency to do the will of God. It should never be flaunted or hoarded. To do so is folly and is contrary to God's plan. I know that this is true. Yet, the fantasy of the million-dollar lifestyle, an abundance of money and possessions is very seductive.
In the U.S., money can buy beautiful surroundings, cutting-edge health treatments, the cleanest food, and even immunity from criminal prosecution. But can money buy happiness? Can money buy peace? God says, ”NO.” The sense of self-sufficiency (prideful independence) that develops from reliance on money is a sin that eventually leads to destruction. Don’t believe me? Think about it. If you consistently rely on money to solve your problems, you will eventually develop a false sense that you do not need God. If you believe you do not need God, you will not revere God. You will not keep His commandments. And as Adam and Eve can attest, disobedience will eventually cause you to lose access to your power source, the Holy Spirit. God allows us to stumble and fall into sin to remind us that we cannot live independently without the help and assistance of God. Remember, wealth does not afford peace. Instead, it is an illusion. The only real safety net is the one that God provides. It is a promise, darling. Jesus said, “By myself, I can do nothing; I judge only as I hear, and my judgment is just, for I seek not to please myself but Him who sent me.” John 5:30 |
